What is your attitude to ageing? Or is it never going to happen to you?
As we age, our body, our mind our emotions all change. Our energy levels change. How important is your mind to you as you age? Are you a Dream Maker or a Dream Breaker? Or do you continually Dream? Have you enough energy to make your dreams happen?
The North American Indians wake up each morning and say 'everyday is a good day to die!' They believe change is an integral part of the life and death cycle. They understand the importance of 'Living in the Zone' stretching themselves by uprooting their family, their animals and their lives every 7 years and changing their environment completely. Constantly open to creating opportunities - even out of adversity.
For action to occur we need movement through the emotions and the mind and we need energy. Energy creates further action - whether through the mind or the body. Energise yourself and you really will energise your life.
We will get energy anywhere we can - through drama, through conflict, through food, friends, environment; through laughter, meditation and breathing. Your body is buzzing with energy. The chemical energy locked up in the body's own food stores; in glucose for example - the food you eat each day packs as much energy as a thousand AA batteries. Or the body's plentiful kinetic energy, supplied in a variety of forms: the regular repetitive motions of breathing and hearbeat, or voluntary movement of the limbs, such as walking or bending the arms. Your body loses a large amount of energy as heat - at the rate of about 100 watts ifyoua re doing nothing more strenuous than reading , but at many times that rate in the course of hard physical work. According to Bill Bryson’s book 'Everything You Wanted to Know about the World', "If you are an average sized adult you will contain within your modest frame no less than 7 x 10 18 joules of potential energy – enough to explode with the force of 30 very large hydrogen bombs, assuming you knew how to liberate it and really wished to make a point. Everything has this kind of energy trapped within it. We are just not very good at getting it out.
Einstein’s famous theory E = MC². E stands for energy, M for mass and C² for the speed of light squared. In simplest terms, what the equation says is that mass and energy have an equivalence. They are two forms of the same thing: energy is liberated matter; matter is energy waiting to happen. Since C² (the speed of light times itself) is a truly enormous number, what the equation is saying is that there is a huge amount of energy bound up in every material thing". INCLUDING YOU!!
Energy and optimism, as well as physical health, make the mind work better. Passion for life, emotional maturity and empathy can be more important thanpure analytical intelligence as tools of leadership. Retaining a youthful outlook on life, will enhance your energy levels. Enjoying life inspires others. Believing in yourself, without arrogance, preparing yourself and having goals - personal and professional, ensuring you take enough relaxation and meditation to be ready for your next action toward your goal. And strive for total competence - 50% practise and 50% change according to top golfer Tiger Woods. Whatever you are doing - do it to the best of your ability.
Ageing Gracefully and Dis-Gracefully with an ageless body and timeless mind really is your Choice!
